Understanding Madinah's Areas

Markazia is the central area directly around the mosque. Qurban Road and the Bilal Masjid side are a short walk further out and usually better value. Shumalia is on the northern side, near the ladies' gates.

Why Madinah Is Easier on a Budget

Madinah's streets around the mosque are generally flatter and easier to walk than Makkah's, so a mid-range hotel is still very manageable for most pilgrims. Many families save money in Madinah and spend it on a closer Makkah hotel, or the other way round.
